In a world of greed and deceitful gain power-hungry politicians behave badly to save their skins in this hilarious, irreverent and physically playful ensemble version of Gogol’s timeless tale of power and corruption.

In a greedy, decadent, dog-eat-dog world a group of power-hungry politicians, headed by the immoral town Mayor, get wind of news that an official government inspector is coming – incognito – to investigate them and their dodgy dealings. In the desperate flurry to cover up their corrupt ways what unfolds is an unfortunate case of mistaken identity that spirals into ever increasing panic, exposing the rotten core beating at the heart of the provincial town with biting hilarity.

A company borne of the staggering young talent of Young Pleasance, with 17 Edinburgh Festival Fringe shows between them, this “immensely talented ensemble” [Fest] take a classic play and tell a political story more relevant than ever. Using dazzling physical theatre techniques to highlight and ridicule the absurdity and the blatant corruption in authority this production is an inventive, witty, smart and wildly satirical retelling of Gogol’s timeless tale which promises a slick visual feast with healthy dose of silliness to both delight and provoke.
