125 years after it first scandalised the world Quintessence Theatre bring Wilde’s gothic fable vividly to life and asks: Endless youth, eternal beauty…what price would you pay?

“The only way to get rid of temptation is to yield to it…” So the lascivious Lord Henry teaches the impressionable Dorian Gray. In a desperate bid to maintain his youthful beauty, and experience all the pleasures the world has to offer, Dorian unwittingly sells his soul and sets himself on a path of lavish debauchery and secret sin from which there may be no coming back…

Stylised and expressionistic in both performance and design with a multi-rolling ensemble cast of six Quintessence use dazzling physical theatre techniques of heightened movement, choreographed chorus sequences and detailed mime to provide a slick visual feast reflective of Wilde’s sumptuous writing and question our obsessive modern pursuit of youth and beauty.
