In fair Verona the Montagues and Capulets exist in perpetual opposition. Brawls abound and blood spills in a dystopian world defined by conflict. But as feuds rage, love blossoms: at first glimpse Romeo and Juliet fall desperately and wholly for each other with tragic consequences.

Stylised and expressionistic in both performance and design Blue Crate Theatre use their innovative physical ensemble story-telling techniques to tackle the greatest love story ever told. Fusing the physical with Shakespeare’s own text and a simple design with a striking colour palette of black, white, and sudden shots of red, Blue Crate lift the Bard’s poetry from page to stage, visually draw out and vividly explore Romeo and Juliet’s themes of conflict, opposites and paradox.
